Janeth Chepngetich (born 23 July 1998) is a Kenyan long-distance runner. She won the 10,000 metres race at the 2023 African Games.[1]
Early life
[edit]She is from Keringet, Nakuru County in the Kenyan Rift Valley, the same town as world record breaking athlete, Faith Kipyegon.[2]
Career
[edit]Competing as a junior in 2015, she was an Africa Youth 1500m bronze medalist.[3] She subsequently competed over that distance at the 2015 World Youth Championships in Athletics in Cali, Colombia.[4]
She set a women's course record in winning the Udine half marathon in 2022, in a time of 1:08.24.[5]
She was runner-up at the Prague half marathon in April 2023.[6] In September 2023, again running on the road, she won the women's Birell 10KM Race in Prague, in a time of 30:21.[7]
In January 2024, she finished fourth at the Valencia 10k in a time of 29:55.[8] In March 2024, she won gold in the 10,000 metres at the African Games in a time of 33:37.00.[9]
